Are your soaps vegan-friendly and cruelty-free?
Yes, all soaps are vegan-friendly and not tested on any animals. They were happily tested on our founder and her (very willing) boyfriend.
How are your soaps made?
They’re made via the cold-process method to retain the enriching properties of plant-derived ingredients.
How are your soaps different from commercial bar soaps?
Commercial soap are mass-produced often with chemical detergents, hardeners and synthetic lathering agents; some of which can be drying or irritating on the skin. Our handcrafted soap are produced in small batches and created with plant-derived oils, distilled water, botanicals and lye that does not contain these harsh ingredients.
It is stated your soaps contain essential oils – will it cause irritation to my skin?
Direct use of undiluted essential oils on skin can cause irritation. However, we use essential oils at a recommended and safe dosage to prevent irritation to skin and to provide a lightly-scented shower. If you’re particularly sensitive to essential oils, we recommend testing it on a small patch of skin before using.
How long does one bar of soap last?
When stored properly, one bar soap is able to last you a month or through 30 showers.
Usage
I have eczema/ sensitive skin. Is your soap suitable for me?
Our soaps are formulated to be nourishing and conditioning. Based on personal experience, the bar soaps worked well for our founder with eczema and her boyfriend who has sensitive skin. However, your skin is unique – what worked for us might not work for you. We recommend testing on a small patch of skin before using.
Can I use the bar soaps on my face or hair?
We do not recommend using bar soaps on your hair –– this is because your hair require a different pH cleanser. Washing your hair with a soap-based product will result in an unpleasant experience.

Would I be able to use this soap on my pets?
As these soaps contain essential oils, they’re NOT safe to be used on pets or animals.
I don’t like how soft my soap turns after using it. Is there a way to prevent it?
To prevent your bar soap from turning into a soft mess, keep it well-drained on a soap dish. You may also use a shower pouch so it’s easier to handle.
Why is the scent of my soap so faint?
Our soaps are mildly scented with 100% pure essential oils that naturally fade with time. We recommend using them within 6 months upon receiving your order to enjoy them to its fullest. Do not worry if the scent seems to fade after you use it. An outer layer forms on the soap as it dries – simply rinse and lather, and the scent should return.
Why does my soap looks a little different from your photographs?
The beauty of nature lies in its unpredictability. Natural colours change easily depending on variables and the vibrancy of botanicals transforms with time. Rather than being seen as defects, these bars are perfectly imperfect – the colour variations, uneven edges and textured surfaces are part of the charm of nature and handcrafted objects. We encourage you to embrace the beauty of the impermanence and imperfection and welcome the unique soaps that comes your way.
Packaging
Is your packaging plastic-free/ recyclable?
Yes, we're delighted to share that our packaging does not include single-use plastic. Our packaging, including shipping materials, are compostable and/or recyclable, including our packaging tape. We keep our packaging to a minimum – this also means no extra, unnecessary collaterals.
How do you package your orders?
Packages are delivered in either a compostable mailer or a simple corrugated box that is easily recyclable and protected with honeycomb kraft paper or reused bubble wrap.
Our soap packaging is inspired by origami and is able to hold its own form without any glue, reducing the materials required to produce it. It is also made without any lamination so it can be easily recycled. The tissue is printed on FSC-certified, acid-free paper using soy ink, leaving no petroleum-based products when decomposing.
If you opt for low-waste packaging, our soaps are packaged in reused magazine paper and shipped in reused mailers and bubble wrap.
What are your sustainability efforts?
When it comes to environmental sustainability, we believe that the responsibility should never be placed on the consumer. From product to shipping materials, we place consideration on how we are able to reduce materials used and prevent more waste in the landfill. Our raw ingredients are purchased in bulk to reduce packaging, and most of the time, they are in recyclable packaging. Of course, sometimes that is not enough. We also purchase from bulk stores whenever possible, this way, we're able to reuse our own containers.

How long does it take to fulfil my order?
We take about 2 – 3 working days to process your order. Please note due to COVID19, your orders may take longer to arrive.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the hygienic reasons and the nature of our products, we are unable to accept any returns, refunds or exchanges. If you have received a defective item or a wrong order, please reach out to us at hello@gentlemood.co so we may rectify this for you.
Wholesale
Do you do custom or wholesale orders?
As these cold-process soaps require at least 4 – 5 weeks to cure, please reach out to us at least 8 weeks in advance.
